MENOPAUSE & PERIMENOPAUSE
By Ann Ellmers on Sep 08, 2022
This post may seem to be one for the ladies, but it is so very important to have our men understand too.
Physical symptoms
Common physical symptoms of menopause and perimenopause include:
hot flushes
difficulty sleeping
muscle aches and joint pains
It is important to understand that there is so much more including;
palpitations
headaches and migraines
changed body shape
weight gain
skin changes including dry and itchy skin
reduced sex drive
vaginal dryness
recurrent UTI’s
Awareness is the key and understanding that the symptoms are not just physical. Mental menopausal symptoms may include:
· anger and irritability
· anxiety
· forgetfulness
· loss of self-esteem
· loss of confidence
· low mood and feelings of sadness or depression
· poor concentration – often described as 'brain fog' and/or lost words
When my menopause hit me like a bolt of lightning, I booked an appointment with my doctor to be tested for dementia. I thought I was going crazy!
Back then, no one talked about it, but today, thankfully it is being widely publicised.
I laugh about my condition at times but, believe me, it’s no joke.
The link to the NHS below is a great source of information. If you feel that you have symptoms arrange an appointment with your doctor.

I am no expert, but I am a fellow sufferer. As always, I am here if anyone wants to talk about this or anything else that you may be struggling with.
You do not need to suffer alone!
