Running is a great way to get fit! It’s accessible to all and relatively inexpensive to take part.
At Riverside Runners our Monday evening run is our shortest club run which may be more suitable for newer runners. While we are pleased to welcome runners of any standard, you must be able to run/jog for around three miles (5K) without stopping before attempting this club run.
If you are a complete beginner we occasionally run a beginners running course, taking people who wish to start from scratch to being able to run 5 kilometres.
Our next annual beginner’s course will start in April 2025.
If you don’t want to wait until the beginner’s course starts we recommend a running plan for beginners called Couch to 5K. Endorsed by the NHS, it is widely available online or via App (found in App Store and Google Play) and will gradually build you up to a level where you can join us on our club runs. Check out the following link for the Couch to 5K running plan and some tips for new runners:

Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5 kilometre timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone (both runners and walkers, of all ages and abilities) and are safe and easy to take part in. Just register online at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/ to get your individual barcode then turn up at any parkrun event of your choice. You will be made very welcome at any parkrun.
We are fortunate to have several parkruns close by, including Pocket parkrun behind One Leisure/Ernulf in St Neots, and there are many more throughout the UK. They are on every Saturday morning at 9am. Go along and check them out (don’t forget your barcode!):
