George Bettis

Some of you older members may remember George Bettis, who I’m sad to say passed away recently.
George, used to be a maths teacher at Longsands, and was a former Riverside Runner who we believe created our star award system.
As well as being a very good runner George was also a talented cyclist, I’m informed that he is recorded as the holder of some national cycling titles.

Sorry to hear this he was a great bloke and also my maths teacher when I was 11 used to make ya stand outside if you did anything wrong even if it was raining
